Pre-Op Instructions for Implants
Pre-operative care is important to improve long-term prognosis of the implant surgery. Please follow these simple guidelines to be ready for the surgery. Feel free to call our office with any questions or concerns.
Medications
- Begin antibiotics the night before surgery. Continue for one week following surgery. Always take full dose of pills prescribed.
- Take 800mg of anti-inflammatory medication (i.e. Ibuprofen) the night before and morning of surgery. This medication should be taken with food.
- Any medication that you normally take on a daily basis, i.e. high blood pressure medication should be taken as usual. Any medications that are in the blood thinner category, i.e. Aspirin or Coumodin should be discontinued prior to surgery. Be sure that Dr. Greg or Brad knows about these medications in advance and we will help you with when to stop these types of medicines.
- If you require an anti-anxiety medication, i.e. valium, take one tablet the night before and another 1 hour prior to surgery.
Day of Surgery
- Please dress comfortably.
- Avoid coffee or beverages with caffeine the day of treatment.
- If you require anti-anxiety medication, you cannot drive yourself to your appointment. Please arrange for transportation to and from your appointment.
